"If church can only be done this way." Maybe I paraphrased incorrectly, but Monty made this point while we worked on Susan's house today. We spent a little over an hour cleaning up Susan's floors, kitchen, room, closet, pantry, and outdoors. The pictures don't do it justice, but it was nice serving them today. We got to sit with them and talk about their finances. The owner doesn't seem like them. They have hiked up the rent to $550 from $450 and demand they pay him back before the end of the week or they will be evicted. Susan doesn't want to pawn the truck for money. According to her, if they leave they will stay in the truck.
Aaron was struggling with his diabetes. Susan couldn't find his pills, but it could be that they can't afford any. She also had a black eye on the left side of her face. We spent time some time in prayer to lift them up.
Thank God for the Mayes family who really devoted all their resources, time, and even car to helping us out. They had a problem with their car battery and had to have it jumped before we were done. What dedication! All three played such different roles to accomplish one thing and that's to love on Susan and Aaron. I praise God for them and their desire to be the church on foot, moving and striving forward to live the gospel.
Till next week...
