As usual Joey and his crew arrive at our place promptly at 10am. My wife and kids arrived a bit later. We had the usual in food, drinks, and people, but there was something different about today.
There were so many wonderful stories this week as we went out to reach the homeless. Unfortunately, the first stop at the Texas Car Wash was banned. There were several signs posted that there are to be no tresspassers. The police has finally locked down on certain areas.
Across the street there was a small Mexican market. There were about 5 homeless usuals there. We parked our cars and sought to serve them there. Here we saw Claudia and Ricky and a couple new faces. We were also told that Scarlett is not deceased rather she's in another hospital. Despite all the new changes and stories that were fuzzy, we continue to share our food and the gospel with them. Here's a short clip of one of our interactions with them:
We then found out the whereabouts of Susan. She was just around the corner at Bolt street close to the seminary. We took off down Bolt Street to find a small supermarket and there were another 5-7 homeless guys there. Upon stopping, we served the food and drink, but we got a special treat of Jesse playing the guitar for us. He played three songs, and here are the videos:
I got an opportunity to speak with the gas station owner. His name was Ali. It was great to meet and talk with him. I'm praying for another opportunity to share the gospel with him. Our second stop took us to the Love Fellowship Church again. This time there was about 10 homeless guys. Unfortuantely, at each stop there were very few of them. My personal belief, hopefully this won't continually be an issue, is that the local police is trying to move them out because of their decision to rebuild this area. I pray I'm wrong.
We got to minister to several people here. I had the opportunity to meet a man who needed surgery this Tuesday. He was pretty drunk, but needed prayer for his eye. Another man stopped by. His name was Lance, and he was tatooed from head to toe and just released from federal prison. He was a burly guy, and I had the opportunity to share Jesus with him. He seemed pretty rough and tough and I prayed for his heart. I hope it was a genuine repentance. Regardless, the streets are tough places for these families, the women, and children we see.
Continue in prayer for us as we look to accomplish several things this fall. The COPs banquet is covered. NFWBC and Wedgewood are sending their choirs to help out the community. We also are in need of prayer in finding several more places to serve Thanksgiving.
Continue to ask God to give us opportunities to share the gospel and be a light unto the darkness!
